Mr Eddington - STEAM Teacher

Green Team

This term, a new student-led initiative has launched at EPS—the Grade 3/4 Green Team! These passionate students applied and volunteered to give up some of their valuable lunch breaks to help make a positive impact on our school environment.

They kicked off their work by getting their gloves on and inspecting every bin in the school, even the staff room! The team carefully examined the contents, checking for misplaced recycling and food waste.

To support them in their efforts, this Monday the Green Team also welcomed a guest educator from CERES, who helped them develop an environmental action plan focused on reducing waste at school.

Keep an eye out in future newsletters for updates and messages from the Green Team and how you can get involved!

Grade 5/6 RoboCup!

During Term 2, Grade 5/6 students took part in an exciting STEAM unit focused on robotics. Students worked in teams to design, code, and compete with autonomous soccer-playing robots. After in-class competitions, each class crowned a champion team, and two teams were selected to represent EPS at the RoboCup Junior Regional Event on a Saturday.

  • Team OG (5B)
  • Rainbow Unicorns (5/6A)

The event, held at FCJ Genazzano College in Kew,  had 77 teams from over 20 schools attending, competing across multiple categories and divisions of robotics competitions. The EPS teams had a slow start, with both losing their first matches. However, showing great resilience and teamwork, they made strategic changes to their code and robot designs before heading into their next games.

Their efforts paid off, as both teams reached the top four in their division, with Team OG finishing 4th, and Rainbow Unicorns going on to win the entire event, defeating the undefeated team in the final!

We are incredibly proud of how both teams represented EPS with enthusiasm, personal excellence and respect.
