Assistant Principal's report

Leanne Williams - Assistant Principal

Dear Families,

Welcome to Term 3! We hope you had a restful break. We began the term with a valuable Curriculum Day, where all staff focused on our shared goal of Continuing to Create Calm, Consistent, and Connected Classrooms. This professional learning enabled staff to reflect on current practices and strengthen strategies that promote positive, safe, and inclusive learning environments for all students.

Parent/Carer Connection Session – Term 3

We are excited to host our second Parent/Carer Connection Session, designed to provide a supportive space for families to connect, share experiences, and build understanding, particularly for those caring for neurodivergent children and/or children with diverse learning and behavioural needs.

Guest Speaker: CRAMLI Psychological and Behavioural Services

Topic: Building and Enhancing Resilience

Policy Updates

The Education and Policy Subcommittee of School Council has recently reviewed and updated the following policies:

  • Buddy Program Guidelines – A new guideline developed to inform our community about the key factors considered when allocating Prep students to their Year 4 Buddies.
  • Preventing and Addressing Racism in Schools Policy – A new policy introduced by the Department of Education to foster safe, inclusive, and respectful school environments.
  • Complaint Resolution Policy – This policy replaces the previous Complaints and Concerns policy and outlines updated procedures for addressing and resolving issues within the school community.

All updated policies are available on our school website.

Sensory Tools

To ensure our classrooms remain calm and focused spaces for all learners, we kindly ask that sensory tools only be brought to school if they have been recommended by an allied health professional (e.g. occupational therapist or psychologist). Where a recommendation is in place, our teachers are committed to supporting students with consistent, purposeful strategies to enhance their learning.

If your child has a therapeutic need for a sensory tool that has not yet been communicated to the school, please reach out to your child’s teacher so we can work together to support them effectively.

For more information, please refer to my Compass News Item posted on 29th July 2025.

Kindest,

Leanne Williams
