Principal's Message

Dear parents, students and families,

Last Friday we shared our Feast Day with St Joachim's at Mass. As I was unwell I missed it but I hear congratulations are in order to all of our students, but most particularly Mrs McArthur and our choir. So sorry I wasn't there. Thanks of course to our Religious Education Leader Mrs Winduss, Fr Martin and of course Bishop Tony Ireland for their leadership.

Yesterday and today our school interviews have been held. I thank parents for attending these and staff for their willingness to work alongside families for the betterment of the children. I trust these have been of benefit and the students are off to a flying start with their learning for Semester 2.

Today our soccer team has had the chance to play at Casey Fields as part of the Division soccer competition. I trust they have had a great day- win, lose or draw and played proudly for their school. I thank Mrs Ary for her organisation with this.

Tomorrow our students receiving Confirmation have a retreat day at JPC and we thank JPC staff and senior students for leading this and sharing their faith. They will then have the great honour, as part of the Year of Jubilee, to receive their Confirmation at St Patrick's Cathedral alongside their peers from St Joachim's and St Joseph's, Chelsea at 1pm on Saturday 2nd August. Our students receiving Confirmation are Lola, Amelia, Sebastian, Paige, Harry, Grace, Macey, Jacob and James and may God Bless them.

Next week is again a busy one. On Monday morning we raise awareness of our indigenous history through a walk to school activity commencing at 8.20am called "Together We Walk". I thank Mrs Ward for her organisation with this.

Next Friday our Foundation students celebrate "100 Days of School". I bet that is hard to believe for their families. We also have the Year 1/ 2 students  leading a mass dedicated to Australia's only Saint- Mary MacKillop which is called the Feast Day for St Mary of the Cross. Our senior students will commence their winter sport program against Aldercourt PS away and we wish them every success with this and hope they have a great time.

On Saturday 9th August some of or Year 4 students will commence their celebrations of their First Eucharist over the next month at Parish masses. We pray for and congratulate Austin, Audrey, Patrick, Darcy, Haven M, Ben, Joseph, Will and Nathan with this.

Thanks again for a wonderful week.

God Bless

Rod Shaw
