Physical Education

After a rainy return to Health and PE in our first session back to school this term (which didn’t deter us!), we have enjoyed some beautiful sunny winter days outside over the past two weeks!  Students have been enjoying developing their skipping skills-it has been wonderful to witness the students’ persistence to learn and improve along with their great joy in achieving! It has also been so heartwarming to observe the support and encouragement the students have offered their peers.

Students have also been engaged in developing cricket skills and playing cricket matches to apply skills and strengthen teamwork.  This term we will also focus on tennis skills, basketball skills and movement challenges.  Our Grade F/1/2 students will enjoy some more dance sessions this term whilst our Grade 3-6 students will attend the District Cricket/Tennis/Basketball Sports day later this term – stay tuned for further information!

State Cross Country Event – A big CONGRATULATIONS to Clancy in Grade 4 who represented St Mary’s at the State Championships Cross Country Event in Melbourne on Thursday 24th July, placing in the top 50% of his age group! Well done Clancy on your wonderful achievement and participation in this event – what an experience!

Table Tennis  - We recently purchased and set up a table tennis table at school, co-constructing rules for use with all students.  Each week, students have the option to use this table: Grade F-3 on Tuesdays and Grade 4-6 on Thursdays.  Thank you to the staff who have offered their time to help with supervising this area on these days.  Well done to all students for following our rules.  It is great to see so many of you enjoying this break time option!

Thanks to the P&F for funding this purchase for our students to enjoy!
