St Mary's Faith & Family

Sacraments
The Yr 4 childrn who have been preparing for First Communion this coming Sunday participated in a retreat day. They had time to reflect on the actions and parts of the Mass and what they mean. We meditated on the scripture passage of the True Vine and how Jesus that he is the vine and we are the branches. These words remind us of how close Jesus wants o be with us, especially in the Eucharist. We pray for all the children of the parish who will receive the Sacrament of Holy Communion for the first time this weekend. The parishioners of St Mary's have been praying for them all.

Feast Days
St Mary MacKillop: Fri 8th of August the church celebrates the feast of St Mary of the Cross MacKillop, our first australian saint. The foundations of our Catholic school system in Australia are due largely to St Mary of the Cross and the Josephite Sisters whome she helped to found. The work of the Josephites continues through their mission of serving the poor and marginalized through various ministries, including education, social justice, and community support. They work in schools, parishes, hospitals, and with refugee and asylum seeker communities, embodying the Josephite charism of compassion and service.
Feast of the Assumption: Fri 15th August
Mary is very important to Christians because she was chosen to be Jesus' mother.
After Mary's life on earth, God took her, body and soul, to live with Him in Heaven. This event shows that one day, everyone who loves God will also be taken to Heaven.
All families are welcome to join us for Mass at 9:15am on Fri 15th at the Church.
Fr Wahid’s Farewell and 40th Anniversary of Ordination
All are welcome to farewell Fr Wahid on Sunday 17 August and to celebrate with him on his 40th Anniversary of Ordination to the Priesthood.
10.30am – Mass in St Mary’s Church.
1.00pm – After the Mass all are invited to gather in St Mary’s Hall for refreshments.
