Foundation
Hi Families,
The Foundation students have had a very exciting week welcoming the arrival of our new friend, Raelynn! It has been beautiful to watch the children be so inclusive, welcoming and kind to our new student by showing her around the playground, helping her unpack her bag, being her partner on the floor and in the line, playing with her in Discovery and even praying for her to have a happy day during our prayer circle every morning. She’s been greeted with big smiles and hugs at the door every morning by the students. It’s times like these where the children really demonstrate their intrinsic desire to be kind and helpful to others. We are so proud of them! A big welcome to Raelynn and her family. Have a lovely weekend everyone.
Year 1
Hello Families,
We have all had a wonderful week of learning, and it is hard to believe we are already halfway through the term!
Last week, it was lovely to celebrate Family Week together. Thank you to all the families who joined us and shared in the activities. On Friday, we also enjoyed our Paraliturgy Assembly, where our SRT members bravely spoke in front of the whole school. We are so proud of the confidence and courage they showed.
Wishing everyone a wonderful weekend!
Year 2
HELLO Families,
The weeks are going by very quickly! We had another lovely week celebrating learning in the classroom. The class are fast learning about 'doubles' in Math, and the Sacraments for our faith journey. We learned about Australian's first nation peoples' connection to the earth through storytelling and we are learning a song 'We Are Australian' with AUSLAN signing. We pass on our congratulations to all the candidates that received their Confirmation Sacrament, another step in their faith journey. We invite families to attend this week's Assembly, Thursday starting about 2.30. We'll be sharing our class promise, the song and storytelling. As always, thank you for your tremendous support .
Year 3/4AL
Hi Families,
Wow, half way through Term 2 already! ... It's been another busy week in the classroom!
In Inquiry, students investigated the question, “What melts ice the fastest?”; salt, sand, sugar or water. They explored how different substances affect the melting process and how salt lowers the freezing point of water. We discussed why it is important to conduct a fair experiment for accuracy of results. It was wonderful to see the curiosity, teamwork and critical thinking skills develop as students worked through the investigation.
As part of our end of Inquiry unit display, we ask if students could please bring in a clear, empty bottle/glass jar over the coming weeks, as well a small torch if families have one to spare. We look forward to celebrating their creations.
Year 3/4T
This week in Digital Technologies, students explored coding using Scratch, a block-based programming platform developed by MIT. Students experimented with creating animations, games and interactive stories while developing their understanding of sequencing, problem solving and computational thinking. It was wonderful to see students showing creativity, persistence and collaboration as they tested and refined their coding projects throughout the lesson.
