Prayer & Catholic Identity

Catholic Education Week 4th-8th May

In Catholic Education Week we celebrate going to a Catholic school. What makes our school special is that it is Jesus centred and our values are guided by the stories in the Gospels (Bible). Jesus teaches us to live a life of prayer, service and mission.

Heavenly Father,

We thank you for the gift of Catholic Education in our Sandhurst Diocese.

As we gather to celebrate this special week, we ask for your blessing on our students, teachers, staff and families.

Inspire us to "Seek Peace and Pursue It" in ourclassrooms, homes and communities.

Give our educators the wisdom and passion to guide young hearts and minds, and our students the courage to learn, grow, and shine their light in the world.

May our schools be places of joyful learning and faith, nurturing each child in the spirit of your love.

We ask this through Jesus Christ, our Teacher and Guide.

Amen

Thank you Cards for the Elderly

Our focus for Catholic Education Week has been serving the elderly in our community.

One of the many ways that Jesus served others was by washing the disciple's feet during the last supper.

This week each student has made a 'Thank You' card and written a message inside for an elderly person. As the children made their card they were encouraged to think about how elderly people have contributed so much to our community. They also reflected that carrying out an 'act of service' is one way that we can show gratitude to others.

Catholic Identity Awards

We congratulate Pippa F. and Ailsa G. for being our most recent recipients of our Catholic Identity Awards. Pippa and Ailsa received the award for being wonderful examples of the principle of 'Doing what is best for everyone, not just yourself'. They put this catholic social teaching into action by 'treating people the way they like to be treated'.

Act of Service

FCJ College makes a visit to the Phillipines once every two years. On a recent visit some of their teachers and students had the pleasure of giving their community t-shirts from St. Joseph's school. St. Joseph's school donated the t-shirts as an 'act of service' to help out people who are in need. We are very thankful to FCJ College for getting these t-shirts to the people who need them most.
