Foundation Classrooms

Literacy:
It’s been a busy and exciting start to the term in Prep! In Literacy, students are consolidating their knowledge of all Stage 2 letters and have begun exploring Stage 3 sounds. We’ve been having fun exploring information reports, while also learning how to correctly use full stops and capital letters. It’s been wonderful to see their confidence grow; we are so proud of the fantastic progress they are making in both reading and writing!
Numeracy:
In Numeracy, our young mathematicians have been getting hands-on with learning about mass, using “hefting” to compare and feel the difference between light and heavy objects. In Spanish, we have been learning about parts of the day: morning, afternoon, and night. We have connected them with the activities we do during those times. They’ve also been boosting their maths fluency with Facts on Fuego, bringing lots of energy and enthusiasm to their learning!
Spanish:
In Spanish Literacy, we have been learning about the seasons! We are in autumn and it’s cold! We have learned about weather conditions such as rain, wind, storms, snow, and sunshine, as well as how to describe the appropriate clothing for each day. At the same time, we have continued learning our Level 1 and 2 letters in Spanish, getting ready to start taking our first Spanish readers home!
Inquiry:
In Inquiry, we received a visit from Pascale. She talked to us about plants and how to care for them. We learned about the parts of a plant, what seeds look like, and how often we should water them. Now we know that we must take care of the flowers in our veggie patch and not pull them out. We planted seeds in small pots and now have three new plants to look after!
We also received a visit from the firefighters, but they had to leave to respond to an emergency - how exciting!
