Athletics Carnival 2026

The rain held off beautifully, allowing our Athletics Carnival to run smoothly and successfully. Every student embraced the chance to run on the track and participate in their age events, creating a great start to our Carnival on Friday at Hensley Athletic Field. The energy and enthusiasm from our students truly lit up the day!

A heartfelt thank you goes to Mr Peter O'Malley our dedicated Physical Education teacher, for his outstanding organisation of the event. Days like this don’t happen without the incredible support of our staff and the generosity of our parent volunteers. Your time, effort and enthusiasm are deeply appreciated, we simply couldn’t do it without you.

To our amazing staff, thank you for your tireless work in making the day run so smoothly. And to our students, congratulations! Your participation, sportsmanship and smiles (many with ribbons in hand!) made the day a memorable one. Thank you again for being such a supportive and engaged community.

Dance & Choir Eisteddfod

We had a truly wonderful past few weeks, filled with excitement, achievement and community spirit. With the Eisteddfods we had busy weeks, but incredibly rewarding one for our children.

Our students shone on stage at the Dance and Choir Eisteddfods. As many of you know, some schools outsource dance companies, charge families significant fees for costumes and lessons, and require auditions for students to participate. At St Anthony’s, we remain proudly inclusive. Every child, whether they dance outside of school or not, is welcomed as part of our team. These full and exciting days create memories our children will carry with them for years.

A heartfelt thank you to Mrs Jodie McInness for her commitment, creativity and belief in every child. She sees the potential in all students, whether in dance, drama or choir and nurtures their confidence on stage. These experiences are so special for our children, giving them the joy of performing, working together and celebrating each other’s strengths.

In choir, the word ensemble means working together and that is exactly what our students did. Their teamwork, focus and enthusiasm were evident in the performance.

Thank you to all families for your support throughout the weeks. We are so proud of our students and grateful to our dedicated staff who make these opportunities possible. Parents and carers will have the opportunity to see all the Eisteddfod items at our last assembly on Friday 26 June at 9am.

Kids Giving Back

On Monday 18 May, students from Kindergarten to Year 6 took part in a meaningful social justice initiative, creating care boxes for members of our community who are experiencing hardship. This hands‑on experience allowed our children to see how simple acts of kindness can have a real and lasting impact. It also helped them understand that service is not just something we talk about, but something we live out together.

We extend our heartfelt thanks to our Family Educator, Laura Neeson, for organising this wonderful opportunity. Her work ensures that social justice is not an abstract idea for our students, but a lived experience that shapes their understanding of empathy and responsibility.

Through our partnership with Kids Giving Back, students were able to engage in authentic service learning that aligns with the NSW PDHPE and HSIE/Geography curriculum. These incursions bring meaningful, hands‑on experiences directly into the school environment, helping children develop social awareness while deepening their understanding of community. The spirit of generosity and teamwork shown by our students was inspiring, and we are proud of the way they embraced the opportunity to contribute to the wellbeing of others.

Mary Help of Christians Mass

We extend our thanks to the leaders who attended the Mass of the Solemnity of Our Lady Help of Christians on Monday 25 May. It was a beautiful and reverent celebration led by Bishop Tony Percy at St Mary’s Cathedral, and we are grateful for the way our students represented our community with such respect and pride.

The Solemnity ofOur Lady Help of Christians holds a special place in the life of the Church in Australia. Mary under this title is honoured as the patroness of our nation, a symbol of protection and guidance. Since 1844, Australian Catholics have turned to Mary Help of Christians in times of need, seeking her intercession for unity, peace and hope. Her feast invites us to reflect on the strength that comes from faith and the comfort of knowing we are supported by her maternal care.

St Anthony’s Feast Day & Walk-a-thon Update

We decided to postpone the Walk‑a‑thon originally scheduled for today, Wednesday  27  May due to the current weather conditions. The wellbeing of our students must always come first and we do not want them getting wet or risking any slips along the way.

The Walk‑a‑thon will now take place on St Anthony’s Feast  Day, Friday  12  June adding to the celebration and giving us a little more time to continue fundraising for our guided, home readers and resources. We look forward to celebrating this special day together as a community. So far we have raised: $1789.10

You can make a donation using this link: https://www.trybooking.com/DMIYF.

Tell Them From Me Parent Survey – We Value Your Voice

At St Anthony's, we are incredibly proud of the strong relationships, positive learning culture and many successes our students experience every day. As part of our ongoing commitment to working in partnership with families, we invite all parents and carers to complete the Tell Them From Me survey.

This survey is an important opportunity for you to share the wonderful things happening in our school and to highlight the strengths you see in your child’s learning, wellbeing, and daily experience. Your feedback helps Sydney Catholic Schools understand the positive impact our community is having and the growth our students are achieving.

We encourage families to use the survey as a way to celebrate our successes, acknowledge what is working well, and help us build on the positive foundations already in place. This is a platform to recognise the strengths of our community and contribute constructively to our future direction.

The survey is completely anonymous and takes approximately 20 minutes to complete. You can access it on any computer or mobile device using the link below:

Thank you for your time, your support and your ongoing commitment to our school community.
