Geography Competition

Written by Ms Rachel Jasper

In May, students from Mildura Christian College tested their geographical skills and knowledge against thousands of other students around the country in the Australian Geography Competition. Geography teacher, Miss Rachel Jasper, was pleased with how the students performed.

"I have seen some big improvements in our results from last year, and several of our students this year even gained distinctions and credits. Well done to Lucas Tresize with a distinction, and Bella Schultink and Asher Kelleher with credits. The results give us an external benchmark as to how our students are going in certain aspects of geography."

Rachel Honey, the Competition's national organizer, said, "The Competition aims to encourage student interest in geography and to reward student excellence. Geography is such an important subject because it develops in students a holistic understanding of the world around them, and their place in it."

Well done to all 21 of our students who participated this year! Each of them has taken home a certificate that shows their results.
