German Poetry Competiton 

German Poetry Competition 2023 (Regional and State Finals)

GNLC students from Years 4 to 9 have been taking part in the AGTV’s German Poetry Competition since 2016. We are proud to share the fantastic effort and results. After rigorous in-class and year level competitions, 6 Junior School students and 5 Middle school students qualified for the Regional Final. 

Our students competed with two schools: Penleigh and Essendon Grammar and Overnewton Anglican Community College. The Regional Final was organised by the German Department of the College and held online, with students submitting their recital of a German poem and judges from all three schools assessing their comprehension, pronunciation, intonation, and overall presentation.  The standard of presentation throughout the final was again very high and we are pleased to announce that our students scored 1st, 2nd and 3rd places across the Year levels. 

Three of our Middle Year medal winners qualified for the State Final. On Saturday, the 26th August, Eleasha  (Year 8) and Tiahna (Year 9) will compete against students from across the State at the Austrian Club in Heidelberg West. We wish them all the best.  

Four Middle and Junior School medal winners (Years 5 to 6) will attend their respective State Final on 14th October. 

We hope you share our pride and joy to see our students showcasing their skill and love for German. These highlight the outstanding quality of German knowledge and understanding our students display.
