Advance notice: Book Week

Please note in your calendar: Friday 25th August

We are very excited to be celebrating Children’s Book Week this year. Our Book Week Parade will be happening on Friday Week 5, the 25th August.

8.15am - Coffee van will be available for parents to purchase hot drinks.

8.30am - Parents will move from classrooms to stand behind bunting, near the middle primary playground, to form a guard of honour for our parade.

8.45am – Book Week Parade begins moving through the school and outside areas.

Students are invited to dress up as their favourite book character.

If students are dressing up, they must also have a copy of the book that their character appears in, or a copy of the front cover of the book will also be accepted.

Please note, we do not expect you to spend a lot of money on costumes. Get creative, using items that you may already have, or try your local op shop.

You can find some great simple ideas online at sites like Pinterest. Keep your eye out for other special Book Week events and activities in the weeks to come.

Father's Day Stall

We are so excited to offer the Fathers Day stall again this year. It will be happening at Good Shepherd on Tues, Wed and Thursday of Week 6 Term 3 after lunch, during classroom, with each class having an allocated time to come visit and shop! See poster attached for more details! Please send money along with your children by Tuesday 29th August in a named envelope for your child's teacher.

A team of volunteers have been busy organising to make this possible; however, we can't do it without you! We need parent helpers in week 6 to help man the stall... so we are looking for Mum's and Dad's to help man the stall on Tues 29th Aug, Wed 30th Aug, and Thurs 31st Aug from 1.20pm -3pm to make this possible. How about seeing if you can get 2 hours off of work to help out, which will give you the chance to see the kids excited faces' when they have the lovely opportunity to buy something special for their Dad? Please flyer below for more information and who to contact...we'd love to hear from you.

Thanks, the Fathers Day Stall Organising Team.

Growing Faith at Home

What is faith? It is something we talk about, but how would you actually describe it to someone? This week’s GFH title is ‘Faith in Jesus’. The resource offers some other ideas to discuss as a family; ‘Name someone you know who has a great faith. Why do you say that about them? Share ways you can help each other to have a great faith.’  I find comfort and confidence in placing my trust and faith in someone who is dependable and loves me. Check out the resource and have a wonderful week!

A word or two of encouragement

Thinking a little further about Worship yesterday... The theme was ‘Let your light shine’. (You may have already read the devotion reflection earlier in this newsletter.) I wonder if you might have a moment or two share some encouragement with someone this week? A little note or perhaps a friendly word to anyone on staff or to families in our community can really brighten their day... You don’t have to wait for a special occasion! You never quite know who might be in need of some encouragement today!
