Principals News
Last week I attended a Lunch with our Archbishop Peter and Dr Edward Simons, along with many Principal’s and other Catholic Professionals.
The Melbourne Archdiocese of Catholic Schools have created a new vision towards 2030. The Vision is Every Student is inspired and enabled to flourish and enrich the world.
Dr Simons spoke to two people important in our Catholic Story who teach us how we should approach this work. Mother Julian of Norwich was quoted repeatedly by Pope
Benedict “And all will be well,” “all manner of things shall be well." This quote speaks to our Catholic Faith that we must put out faith in God, and whilst doubt is normal, we always radiate hope for a better future.
Secondly, he referenced the Catholic Saint who I most aspire to be like, and who I took my Confirmation name from, St Francis of Assisi. He wrote, "Start by doing what's necessary; then do what's possible; and suddenly you are doing the impossible."
At Holy Family, we are inspired by these words to ensure that we are constantly driven to improve our school and ensure that we never limit ourselves or our students in what could be achieved!
Support for Mrs Hudson
As a community, we throw our arms around Mrs Hudson who suffered health issues with her heart this week. Our community rises when challenged, and has surrounded Mrs Hudson this week with love, the love she shows her class everyday. She is on the way to full recovery and our prayers and love will continue to be with her.
Father’s Day
Tomorrow we celebrate Father’s Day with our children. We are looking forward to our Breakfast starting at 8am. The role of the Father is very important in children’s lives, however we also know that some families may have that role taken by other people, sometimes the mother.
What makes up the role becomes critical, a guide, a protector, but most importantly, as our kids have told me today, someone who makes me laugh. The role of the parent changes over the journey, however the critical work in the younger years is to build the relationship, where in the teenage years, they know they can come to you and seek advice whatever the situation.
I know myself, I can always be more present with my children, put the device away and give them the most important gifts of all, time and unconditional love.
