Peer Support

Peer Support has now been running for two weeks with positive engagement from students across the school.

For 30 minutes each week, all students have been participating in structured Peer Support sessions designed to foster collaboration and a sense of community across the school. Year 5 and 6 Peer Leaders facilitate groups consisting of 8–10 students from Kindergarten to Year 4, guiding them through activities that encourage positive and supportive interactions.

Each teacher supervises 2–3 groups within their classroom, ensuring every child is supported throughout the program. This term’s module, "Keeping Friends," focuses on exploring the nature of friendship, building meaningful relationships, and strengthening skills in empathy and critical thinking.

The program runs for eight sessions. In the first session, children had the opportunity to get to know one another, agree on group expectations, and collaborate effectively. They also began to reflect on the meaning of friendship. We encourage families to discuss Peer Support each week, as ongoing conversations at home can help reinforce the concepts and skills developed during each session.

We look forward to seeing students continue to engage enthusiastically in this valuable opportunity to learn, grow, and make lasting friendships.
