Student Wellbeing

Teaching children to stand up for themselves does not mean hitting back.
Teaching children how to stand up for themselves builds their confidence and empowers them to advocate for themselves. Whether it is responding to negative comments or setting personal boundaries, these phrases are powerful reminders for your child when they are reflecting on their day:
- People will say things that are not nice, but YOU get to choose whether to believe them or not.
- Setting boundaries helps the other person understand what you are OK with and what you are NOT.
- You are strong enough to stand up for yourself, but I am here for you.
- Everyone deserves to be treated with respect, including you.
- Asking for help takes courage.
- This is a safe place for you to ask me questions.
When we empower children, we help them develop problem-solving skills and build self-confidence. We show care, encouragement and support without stepping in to rescue them. In doing so, children learn to advocate for themselves with confidence, resilience and kindness.
Celebrating Student Success
Congratulatiosn to Julienne (Hope Homegroup) who has once again won gold in the Victorian Jiu-Jitsu Championships.
Congratulations to Reya (Dalton Homegroup) who was selected by her Church group to travel to Sydney and visit Mary MacKillop Place. Reya has shared the following:
I really loved my trip to Sydney, especially because of visiting the Mary MacKillop place. When I sat near the tomb, I felt a connection and felt like she was talking to me. I also visited her cottage and learned stories about how she wrote letters in a particular way. I loved the trip, and it was wholesome to be near it and to experience it.
Congratulations to former SMCM student Alyssa Misiti who has been named as a 'Marvellous Monican' in the lastest edition of St Monica's College Principal's Bulletin. You can check it out here.
