FROM THE PRINCIPAL

It has been another busy and productive fortnight at Inverell High School, with a wide range of learning opportunities, transition programs and community engagement activities taking place across our school.

Year 6 to 7 Showcase

On Tuesday evening, we welcomed prospective students and their families to our Year 6 into 7 Information Evening. The event provided an excellent opportunity for parents and students to explore what Inverell High School has to offer as they begin planning for the transition to secondary education. Our faculties proudly showcased the diverse range of subjects available, while staff highlighted the outstanding facilities, learning opportunities and wellbeing supports that help ensure every student is known, valued and cared for. It was wonderful to see so many families engaging with staff and asking questions about how we can support their child’s educational journey.

Subject Selection Night

Thursday evening saw the school host our Stage 5 and Stage 6 Subject Selection Information Night for students planning their studies in 2027. Subject selection represents one of the most important transition points in a student's educational pathway, providing an opportunity for young people to align their learning with their interests, strengths and future aspirations. The evening focused on helping students and families make informed decisions that may lead to future study, training, apprenticeships, employment or university pathways. At Inverell High School, we are proud to offer a broad range of academic, creative, practical and vocational opportunities, ensuring every student has access to learning experiences that support their individual pathway to success.

Student Representative Council

Thursday marked the commencement of our Student Representative Council (SRC) selection process for 2026–2027. Students delivered speeches and participated in year group elections, demonstrating courage, leadership and a commitment to making a positive contribution to our school community. I congratulate all students who nominated and put themselves forward for leadership positions. The elected Year 11 students will now progress to an interview panel comprising the Principal and selected staff members before our newly elected SRC participates in leadership development workshops later this term. I look forward to watching these young leaders grow and make a positive impact on our student body over the coming year.

Ross Hill Farm Day

I would also like to acknowledge and thank Ms Melissa Willcocks, Mr Neil McLane and our dedicated Year 9 and 10 Agriculture students who played a significant role in making the recent Ross Hill Farm Day such a success. Their efforts in preparing and presenting activities showcased both the quality of our Agriculture program and the pride our students take in sharing their knowledge with others. By all accounts, the Kindergarten students and staff from Ross Hill Public School thoroughly enjoyed their visit to our school farm and left with a greater appreciation of agriculture and rural education.

As always, I thank our staff, students and families for their ongoing support of the many opportunities available at Inverell High School. It is through these partnerships that we continue to provide rich educational experiences that prepare our students for success both within and beyond the classroom.
