Principal's Report

 Dear Parents,

Welcome to term two, and I hope you had a lovely break over the holiday period.  This term, as it seems all are these days, is jam packed with a number of school events. The first of which will be this Wednesday as we mark ANZAC Day here at school prior to the public holiday on Thursday.

Later in the term we will hold our whole school athletics day, our Education Week Expo, grade 3 & 4 camp and our 2025 Enrolment Information Night.  All of these dates, and our pupil free day days, can be found on the first page of this newsletter for your reference.

For those families that have been at the school for some years, you may recall way back in 2021 that we asked you all to participate in a survey as part of our IDEAS project. This survey, known as the Diagnostic Inventory of School Alignment or DISA is completed by staff, students and parents to provide us with data on what we are doing well and what we need to keep working on. It is only completed by schools participating in the IDEAS project, and is different to the Parent Opinion Survey which all schools complete in term three.

Based on the 2021 data collection results, we have done a number of things around the school including improving the aesthetics of the school, introduced art and performing arts, held our school production last year and our art show later this year.  We have documented our curriculum, devised our school vision and discovered our pedagogical principles. Now, some three years later, it is time once again to see what you the students and staff think of the improvements and where we need to focus our efforts for the next period of time.

I would highly encourage you to take the time to complete the survey so your thoughts are included in our plans moving forward. Once further work in this area is completed, we will of course share the report card we write ourselves based on the data from the survey. The link for the survey will be sent to all families tomorrow via XUNO. I look forward to reviewing the results in due course.

On the next page of this newsletter, the Parent Opinion Survey is discussed which, as mentioned earlier, is a different survey completed by some parents in term three at all government schools in Victoria.

On matters different to surveys, although it is only April we are gearing up for next year's preps with our Enrolment Information Night scheduled for May 29. If you, or someone you know has a child attending prep next year please put the date in your diary and cme along.

Finally for this edition, the Minister for Education, The Hon. Ben Carroll MP, has a short video he would like to share with parents and families. It can be located here.

Kind Regards,

Simon McGlade
