On Friday, March 15th, 2024, COHR witnessed a brilliant display of talent, teamwork, and sportsmanship at Year 5/6 Gala Day. Our students showcased their skills across basketball, cricket, and softball, securing victories and leaving a lasting impression on the field.

The day was filled with memorable moments as our teams triumphed in various matches, demonstrating their dedication and determination. From nail-biting finishes to decisive victories, our students exhibited exemplary sportsmanship and competitive spirit throughout the event.

Moreover, it was inspiring to witness the impeccable behavior of our students, reflecting the values of respect and sportsmanship that we hold dear at COHR. Their positive attitude and enthusiasm contributed to the overall success of Gala Day, creating a vibrant and welcoming atmosphere for all participants.

As the day unfolded, it became evident that some of our teams have earned the opportunity to progress further into divisions, a testament to their hard work and perseverance. We congratulate these teams on their achievements and wish them continued success in their upcoming endeavors.

In addition to their on-field triumphs, our students also shared their reflections on the day:

I played softball at Jells Park on the 15th of March 2024.  It was so fun I was in the mixed team the day was filled with fun and laughter and lots of sportsmanship everyone was cheering and having lots of hope for everyone. We came 3 or 4. I don't know but it was excellent, hopefully we will do it again and have even more fun lets go softball is the best. - Julia

On Gala day I enjoyed a lot because I was in softball in girls team and we WON all 5 of the matches so now the girls softball is going in division. We all played as a team and worked together. My team was very encouraging to me and my team members. - Taj

Year 5/6 Gala Day 2024 was so fun! The sports that were played on that day with other schools were Kanga Cricket, Basketball and Softball! I was in Softball and we had a great time! Even though we lost, we tried our absolute best and always encouraged each other to keep up team spirit. I also really liked that the other schools played very friendly and if something was wrong, they handled it like proper 5/6's which is sometimes very rare to see and I was very proud of that. - Frankie

On Friday we had Gala Day and I played kanga cricket our first game was against Oakleigh Primary. But they were really good, we lost but that was ok because on our second game we were versing St Peter's. It was a fun and fair game and we won. Then for our third game we were versing Clarinda and we lost. Then we had some lunch and then after a break we were versing St Peter's. For our last game we were off to a good start but then the other school were playing really good too but we won. And that is what we did and I did on Gala Day. - Hugh
