Kings Park Campus Principal Message
As we approach the end of Term 1 we would like to thank all members of staff for their endless support of our students at KP. We have received much feedback from students and families in relation to the calm and focussed year we have had to date. This would not be possible, of course, without the willingness and preparedness of students to engage in their learning and that of their peers. We very much look forward to Term 2 with excitement and enthusiasm, and the opportunities it will bring.
Discovery Evening: Is this Thursday. The event is a great chance for prospective students and their families to see the campus and hear about the wonderful opportunities that enrolling at Copperfield College- Kings Park Campus offers. The evening's tag line "there's more to Copperfield than you know".
NAPLAN: Last week (and this week} all Year 7 and 9 students completed NAPLAN. The behaviour of students was exemplary and we were so pleased with how smoothly the timetable operated. NAPLAN assesses five learnings; reading, writing, spelling,
grammar and punctuation, and numeracy. Well done to Miranda and Health, our Campus Leaders, for their work behind the scenes to ensure it was successful.
Student Leaders: Our Senior Student Leadership Team (College and Campus Captains) met with the Hon. Natalie Hutchins MP, current Member for Sydenham. Natalie is the State Minister for Jobs and Industry, Minister for Treaty and First Peoples, and the Minister for Women.
Our students relayed their lived experiences of Copperfield College including what they are most proud of, their current and future aspirations and improvements that could be made with a focus on buildings and grounds.
Sporting Events
Student Wellbeing: We have a number of student wellbeing related events at the Campus. This included 'Blurred Minds Vaping Workshop' (at Year 7}, which explored reasons for vaping and its popularity, the latest evidence on the known health risks of vaping on the human body and brain and discussed reasons for use and alternative coping strategies. Our students walked away with an improved understanding of the adverse health effects of vapes and an increased capability to refuse vape related offers.
We also had our Year 8 Student Wellbeing Day. We had two main presenters; REACH and BUTTERFLY.
The REACH Program focussed on social and emotional development. It aims to connect young people to create a sense of social belonging, have breakthrough conversations and build emotional resiliency/courage.
The Butterfly Foundation focused on the issue of body image. The Program examines the daily impact of low self-esteem, negative body image and disordered eating on a student's wellbeing and potential.
Year 7 Anti Vaping Workshops on March 4, all year 7 students introduced to the health risks of this unhealthy habit in an informative session presented by Blurred Minds.
Buildings Works

Carpet tiles to be installed in C team during the holidays.
Science rooms have new "high tables and chairs" which will be delivered by the end of the term.
Goals
We continue to work towards achieving our 2024 Campus goals.
- Every teacher is a teacher of literacy, numeracy, student behaviour and wellbeing.
- Student attendance is everyone's responsibility.
- Build POSITIVE and RESPECTFUL relationships and connectedness within the school community.
- Use data informed seating plans to provide a routine and safe learning environment.
It is pleasing to see the high number of genuine positive Compass posts, recognition of the many good things our students do. We thank teachers for taking the time to let students know that you notice them when they demonstrate the best versions of themselves.
We wish all our staff, students and families a restful enjoyable and safe term break.
Kind regards,
Mr Lance Petherick and Dr Michael Gruis Campus Principals
