Application for Leave Forms

Please continue to access the College website for our Application for Leave Forms for more than two days leave. Please ensure all fields are complete, and importantly, that you cross-check the Assessment Handbook and indicate all assessment tasks that will be missed. We encourage your son to notify his class teacher of any intended leave also.

Harmony Day Reflection by Robert Azizian

Born in the vibrant city of Yerevan, Armenia, my life's journey has been a tapestry of new beginnings across different continents. The political and economic upheaval following the Soviet Union's collapse prompted my family, including my grandparents, to seek a more stable environment. The chance to transform our lives came when my uncle, a lecturer at Auckland University in New Zealand, extended an invitation to visit in 1995. Captivated by New Zealand's breathtaking landscapes, we decided to make it our new home after being granted a residence permit shortly after our arrival.

However, our stay in Auckland was cut short in 1999 due to my son developing breathing issues, with doctors advising a move to a warmer and less humid climate to prevent asthma. This medical advice led us to Australia, a country that promised not only a healthier environment for my son but also educational opportunities for my wife and me. We enrolled at the University of Newcastle, pursuing our Master's degrees, which marked the beginning of our careers in education in Australia.

Our teaching journey in Australia was fulfilling, yet the desire for international experience nudged us towards London, where we spent three years imparting knowledge in high schools and primary schools. This period was significant, as my son also completed his high school education in London, a milestone that coincided with our global teaching adventures in Qatar, Dubai, and Central Asia.

Eventually, our travels circled back to Australia, where we continued our teaching careers in private schools. My wife's dedication and skill led her to become the Head of Primary at Santa Sabina College, a respected Catholic independent school. Our journey, from the uncertainties in Armenia to a life filled with educational pursuits and family care across the globe, reflects our resilience and adaptability, driven by the quest for better opportunities and a commitment to contributing positively to every community we've been part of.

Keeping kids safe online

I would like to invite the members of your P&C and parents at your school to a special   forum about “Keeping kids safe online” with the Federal Minister for Communications Michelle Rowland and the eSafety Commission.

You’ll hear about practical tips to keep your kids safe online, including:

  • Cyberbullying – understand the risks and how to support your child if they are being bullied online.
  • Safer online gaming – learn about the benefits of playing games online for children, as well as the potential risks.
  • Understanding social media for children and young people.
  • Privacy and your child – helping your child stay in control of their personal information, online photos and social media identity.

You’ll also hear about key Federal Government initiatives on eSafety to protect our community.

There will be an opportunity to network with other local P&C groups and take home our new P&C advice kit. I will also outline some government grant programs P & C groups can apply to for funding.
