MS CATHERINE HOWISON - DEPUTY PRINCIPAL
We have received the School Photographs and these will be distributed to students next week. If you wish to reorder please contact the school and we can give you a unique access code, these are valid for six months.
It was wonderful to see our students in the correct uniform on photo day and also, on most days. We appreciate that there have been challenges with some uniform items, particularly the socks. Clarks are working hard on this and families are encouraged to put their names down for orders with Clarks. Nevertheless, black socks and ‘invisible’ socks have never been part of our uniform and should not be worn to school.
A uniform issue across the school at the moment seems to be jewellery and in particular earrings. Students are permitted two piercings in each ear. This can be in any part of the ear and students can wear plain, simple studs or sleepers. Dangling earrings, large pearl studs and large/thick hoops seem to be in fashion at the moment however we ask that students not wear these to school. A fine chain necklace is permitted however it should be worn under the uniform, in other words, it should not be visible. Students are not permitted to wear rings.
Our Student Leaders have been very visible this term, hosting a number of initiatives for their particular Committee and encouraging students across the year levels to get involved. They have instigated a Community Clean up on Fridays which has been well supported. We know that it is our responsibility to keep our environment clean and tidy and the students should be commended for their leadership in this area.
The Environment Committee have organised a community clean up on Sunday, 17th of March. We are meeting on the corner of Woolston Lane and Woorinen Road at 2:00pm to clean up the side of the road and promote Clean Up Australia Day. This is an event we are hoping to invite the members and leaders of our school to come along to help clean up, support and promote Clean Up Australia Day. We are hoping to clean for 45 minutes to an hour.
Our next Student Forum Meeting is on Monday, 18th of March and this is a great opportunity for students to put forward ideas for initiatives, change, or improvement in our school. Any student is very welcome to speak to one of the Student Leaders, from any House or Committee and suggest an item to be tabled at Student Forum.
