Japanese Day |  2024

Contributions to celebrate Japanese Day

When?    End of Term 3          ( September, date TBC)

Our goals for Japanese Day is to provide the students with engaging and authentic cultural experiences that complement and celebrate the learning they are doing in Japanese classes.  Japanese Day is celebrated as  a whole school event.

There are many opportunities available to us, limited only by our imaginations and budget!

In 2024 we are seeking contributions from families to assist in the celebration of Japanese Day.  All finances raised go towards cultural incursions, such as musical performances with traditional instruments, Martial Arts displays, Manga artist workshops, or traditional storytelling shows. They could also help to purchase kitchen equipment for creating Japanese festival food to sample, traditional clothing the students can try on, or materials for use during workshops.

Items such as these can be carried through to future Japanese Days, allowing us to improve the experience each year. We hope these experiences encourage future learning, curiosity, and enthusiasm for the Japanese culture and broaden the horizons of our students at Dana Street.

How much ?

We are seeking $15 per student.

What is a "Curriculum & Other Contribution"?

Requesting payments to provide curriculum items and activities for Japanese Day is approved under the Curriculum | Other Contributions (Parent Payment Policy).  Contributions are voluntary. Your contribution will see a real connection to the activity and will significantly enhance the event for your child/ren and school community.
