Walkathon Success!
What an amazing day we had yesterday for our Walkathon!
The weather was absolutely perfect, the atmosphere was electric, and our students gave it their all during the Walkathon. From bikes and scooters to roller skates and good old-fashioned running, our students made the most of the day, showing incredible energy and enthusiasm as they lapped the oval.
The aim of the Walkathon was simple: get active, have fun, and raise money for our school’s important fundraising efforts. Thanks to the support of our community and the determination of our students, we are thrilled to announce that we have already raised over $20,000, surpassing our fundraising target! This fantastic achievement means that we can now purchase brand-new Aquafil Hydrobanks for our school grounds, providing much-needed hydration for our students all year round.
A huge thank you goes to everyone involved in making this event such a success. We want to express our deepest gratitude to our fundraising committee, especially Belinda Cotter, for all their hard work and dedication. We also want to recognise Susan Bishop, one of our teachers, for her fantastic organisation of the event, and Mat Gdanitz for keeping the energy high as our DJ throughout the afternoon, motivating the kids to keep going lap after lap.
We are also incredibly grateful to McGrath St Kilda for their generous sponsorship. For every lap completed, they donated 50 cents on top of the already generous donations from our families and friends. This extra support made a big difference, and we can't thank them enough for their community spirit.
We also want to acknowledge our neighbours Woolworths Metro Fitzroy Street who supported the event with donations of fruit and icy poles to keep us refreshed after so much effort!
As we celebrate this achievement, we’re excited to announce a few more ways to recognise our students' hard work. The class that completed the most laps will be awarded a prize, which will be revealed at our assembly on Friday.
In terms of fundraising, the more we raise, the more we can do to keep upgrading out drinking fountains and taps around the school. The fundraising link will remain open until Monday 2nd December and families are asked to keep sharing the online link with friends and family to seek sponsors and donations for students who took part.
We will also announce a separate prize later in the term for the class that raised the most money, so keep an eye out for that!
