Senior School

As we wrap up another year in the Senior Subschool, I would like to send a huge congratulations to our graduating class of 2024 and also to our Year 11 and 10 students who completed VCE Units 3 and 4 this year. Koonung achieved an amazing VCE median study score of 32 and this can be contributed to the hard work and commitment of our students and staff. This is an excellent result that groups our school with the highest achieving government schools in the state.

To all of our graduating students, you should be very proud of getting through the year and obtaining your VCE. The rest of your life is ahead of you and you can now choose the direction it travels!

The Senior Subschool has had the task over the last couple of months of overseeing the running of around 80 exams. All staff have been super impressed with the conduct, attentiveness and dedication of our students to this process. As well as our Year 12s, our Year 11s, 10s and 9s were well prepared and well behaved in the exams which bodes well for the coming years.

Preparations for next year are already well advanced with a lot of work completed on course selection and timetabling. Lockers have been cleaned, the Edge program has been delivered, reports are nearly ready to be released and special provisions are being put into place for next year’s exams.

Year 12 students start back next year on Wednesday 29 January, whilst Year 11s and 10s start back on Thursday 30 January. As communicated during the Edge program and in the Compass newsfeed, all 2025 Year 12 and 11 students will have holiday work to complete over the summer break to prepare them for the coming year.

I would finally like to take this opportunity on behalf of our parents and families to thank the hard work put in this year by our dedicated group of coordinators: Glenda Hanslow, Peter Giapantzakis, Alistair Tuffnell and Peter Scott and our Senior School Administrator Allana Edgell. This group of dedicated staff really do go the extra mile for our students and are often the reason why some of our students make it through the year. They are due for an extremely well deserved break and I wish them some quality down time over the break.

To finish up, the staff of the Senior Subschool wish all of our families a safe and restful summer break and we look forward to welcoming you back in 2025.
