Intermediate Band Tour

On Thursday 14th November, the Intermediate band performed at Bairnsdale, Lucknow and Nicholson primary schools on its annual short tour. They played a program of eight pieces, interspersed with instrument demonstrations. The program included well-known pieces such as The Avengers and Paint It Black as well as pieces by James Newman and other lesser-known ones. They finished as usual with a rousing rendition of Rock Around the Clock with additional percussion and lots of dancing.

The students are to be highly congratulated on their work for the day, with outstanding behaviour, efficient setup and pack up and excellent musical performances. They brought a lot of joy to the young audiences.

Art Exhibition Opening

Music students added amazing atmosphere to the Senior Art Exhibition opening on Friday 15th November. Performers were: singers, Ava, Lucia, Selwyn and Juliette; Cody on tenor sax, Henry on drums, Benji on keyboard, Isabel on keyboard and percussion, Finn on bass and Selwyn and Ava on guitar. They performed a range of songs and pieces highlighting the extraordinary talent of our music students.

Year 12 Graduation

The Swing band with the addition of our Year 12 String students performed at the Year 12 graduation on the evening of Thursday 21st November. Matilda, Jarno, Noah, Taj and William have all been in the music program for the six years of their high school life attending regular lessons and ensembles.

While we will say goodbye to them more formally at the end of year concert, we thank them for their contribution to the music program and in advance for coming back now they have finished exams, to perform at our end of year events. We wish them the very best as they head off into the world and hope they continue to find joy in making music.
