Year Two Team News
with Steph, Joel and Georgia
Another two fun filled weeks have passed us by and a lot of fun has been had by our students on our excursion to the Royal Botanical Gardens! We would like to thank all the parents who gave up their day to come along and assist during this excursion. The students showed lots of resilience and flexibility with the uncertainty of the weather and we are very proud of them for displaying these Willy Kid values! In saying this, the sun shone down on us the whole time while we were at the Gardens which was wonderful. Our students enjoyed the minibeasts program and this learning will help build curiosity towards the work we will be doing in class.
It’s also been wonderful to hear the students fantastic Oral Presentations! They are going above and beyond to share with us all about the different insects and animals that can be found in gardens. Well done to our Willy Kids (and the adults helping them) on the fantastic efforts. In the coming weeks, we are so excited to start making craft to sell at the upcoming Wishing Tree Stall and beginning wrapping up our learning for the end of the year. As a reminder, if you would like to contribute any baked goods to the Wishing Tree Stall, please bring them to the 2K classroom with an ingredients list on Wednesday the 11th of December.
Important news:
Curriculum Focus: Weeks 9 and 10 of Term 4
Literacy: In Reading, we will be continuing to unpack our class novel, ‘James and the Giant Peach’ and looking at different comprehension strategies. In Writing, we will be exploring poetry.
Numeracy: We will be working on fractions of a number and revising our knowledge of money ahead of the Wishing Tree Stall.
Inquiry: We will be revising our learning from our garden excursion to support our learning by evaluating different creatures and how they are suited to certain habitats, as well as further unpacking the lifecycle of different creatures.
Willy Kids: Through the pillar of responsibility, we will be learning about being ambitious and the different ways that we can do this at school.
