The Art Room is back into the swing of things after our amazing Art Show. We are working on some final assessments and getting our art portfolios ready to be sent home at the end of the term bursting at the seams with beautiful art pieces.
I’d like to congratulate Flynn from 3B for winning the ‘Australia Post Design a Postcard Competition’. We’d also like to congratulate Matilda (3M), Yoie (5/6I) and Lana (3M) who placed in the top 10 finalists. What an amazing achievement!!!! Such Arty Willy Kids!!! (See photo)
The Grade Preps have been learning about primary colours and how to use them. We have taken a close look at Joan Miro’s later work where he created simple abstract pieces using this simple colour palette. See photos of our finished master pieces. Well done Preps!!!
The Grades 1 & 2’s have been inspired by the amazing work of Megan Coyle and her life like collages. We have been exploring simple collages using newsprint paper and magazines to create fruit and vegetable artworks. These art pieces are multi layered and full of texture.
The Grade 3’s & 4’s have been exploring the amazing abstract artwork of Picasso using ‘The Weeping Woman’ as inspiration. We began by playing the ‘Roll a Picasso’ dice game where we created some interesting portraits. This week we chose one to bring to life using black paper and oil pastels. I’m very impressed with the use of blending and colour palettes chosen. Well Done!!!
The Grade 5’s & 6’s having been looking at the abstract botanical art of an Australian artist called Bernadette Twomey. We have used her artwork as inspiration for our amazing abstract botanical art pieces where we explored the use of bold colours and abstract shapes. We used paint blocks for the background and paint markers for the finer details. These are coming along nicely and should be finished soon. I think these would make great wrapping paper and cards once finished!!

Biweekly Physical Education Curriculum Highlights – Term 4 Week 8
As we continue through Term 4, our students are engaging in activities designed to refine their skills, foster teamwork, and most importantly, have fun!
Prep: This fortnight, our youngest learners are focusing on learning new skills and practicing teamwork through fun, cooperative activities. These games help develop their confidence and ability to work with others.
Year 1 & 2: Students are unleashing their creativity by inventing their own games! Through this process, they’re learning about rules, fairness, and the importance of teamwork, all while having a blast bringing their ideas to life.
Grade 3 & 4: The focus for this age group is on target games, including activities like 10-pin bowling and darts. These games challenge students' precision and concentration while providing plenty of opportunities for friendly competition and skill improvement.
Grade 5/6: Senior students are enjoying striking and fielding games, such as modified cricket and tee ball. These activities develop their hand-eye coordination, teamwork, and tactical thinking while preparing them for more advanced sports concepts.
