Thank you, Volunteers!
We are extremely fortunate to have so many wonderful humans in our community who are happy to help out and volunteer at our school. On Wednesday, 20 November, we hosted an afternoon tea for our volunteers to show our appreciation.
On Thursday, Rhiannon Pearce MP attended our assembly to share her thoughts on the valuable contribution volunteers make in our communities and presented the Volunteer of the Year award to 3 individuals who have shared their amazing energy, time and talent with us this year. Congratulations to Xavia, Emma, and Deb, we truly appreciate your time and dedication.
Xavia Zubrinich
Xavia has made a significant and valuable contribution to our school community this year.
As an active member of the Parents & Friends group, Xavia has added value by contributing ideas and providing hands-on support for fundraising initiatives for the school.
Xavia took a leading role with the Father’s Day stall this year, helping with ordering stock, set up/pack up and serving students. Xavia rolled up her sleeves and volunteered every Wednesday at the early hour of 8am, serving breakfast to loads of hungry students at Breakfast Club!
She completed the workshop to support students with reading and has been a great help to the year 1 & 2 students in Miss Tarn’s class on a weekly basis this year.
Emma Merrett
Emma is a valued member of the Greenwith Kindy and GPS Governing Councils and has supported the school in so many ways this year.
Emma has served our school community by volunteering at Breakfast Club every Wednesday, arriving just after 8am to feed the masses! She helped out at the Mother’s & Father’s Day stalls, Crazy Colour Day and provided support at various excursions. She completed the workshop to support students with reading and has been a great help to the year 1 & 2 students in Miss Tarn’s class on a weekly basis this year.
Deb Harvey
Deb has spent 2 full mornings each week supporting year 1 and 2 students in Miss Hockley’s class this year.
Her support has involved working with a small group of students to further strengthen their phonics knowledge during phonics lessons. With these students working in a small and structured group, Miss Hockley has noticed a great improvement. She has also worked with a student who doesn't participate in group discussions and from this, she has started coming out of her shell.
Aside from supporting the students, Deb has also supported Miss Hockley with small classroom / admin jobs which has helped lighten her load.
