SOCKTOBER FUNDRASIER

Thank you to everyone who donated to the SRT's Socktober Fundraiser a few weeks ago. This money goes directly to Catholic Mission Australia and assists their programs supporting children in Mongolia. We raised a total of $141.

E-SAFETY ONLINE

There has been a great deal of publicity recently in the news about new legislation that will come in next year about social media bans for children under 16

It would cover social media such as Instagram, TikTok, Facebook, Snapchat and X but possibly also Roblox and apps that have a chat platform.

Whilst talking to a student on yard duty last week, they told me about the group chat they were in after school, within an online game with a number of students at Sacred Heart. They told me how they had suddenly been removed from the group and how it made them feel.  Just as we would supervise our children playing in the park or at the swimming pool, to ensure they are safe and their wellbeing is protected -  supervising the use of technology is also extremely important.

I have added 2 short video links from  the e-Safety Commission website for parents and carers to understand more about the different parental controls available and which settings are best suited to your family. It’s designed for parents of kids aged 4 to 13 years old.

Here is a video about digital technologies and explains how to support a young person's mental wellbeing when they are using social media and apps. It's designed for parents and carers of young people aged 10 to 18 years old.

The eSafety website has a large parent section and offer webinars and recordings about different topics - Term 4 webinars are listed below.

Have a great weekend.

Take Care,
