Monday was the 11th day of the 11th month, and at 11am, a group gathered at the Mount Beauty Cenotaph to commemorate the time when the hostilities of World War One ended. Remembrance Day is a time to honour those that have lost their lives in the line of duty.
With the School Captains in the middle of their exam period, the Vice Captains, Natalie and Zoe, stepped up and laid a wreath on behalf of the school. Two of our Year 7s (Shelby and Zoe) also participated in the ceremony by laying some flowers, as they both have family in the armed forces. All 4 students represented the school beautifully.
Each year, our Year 10 students are offered First Aid training, in order to assist with applying for jobs, but also because it is so important to have these skills and knowledge. The Year 10s spent Wednesday practicing bandaging, understanding DRS ABCD and learning CPR, in order to complete their First Aid certificate. Thanks to Jenny Farrington for organising Martin Wawzrynczak from Saville Training to run this very important training with our students. A life long skill to have, this was provided free of charge to the students, with the costs being covered by school funding.
Today was the last Unit 3 and 4 exam for all our participating students. The official exam period finishes on Wednesday 20th November, but as we don’t have any students studying Indonesian this year, the last exam our students are sitting is VET Sport and Rec. The students have continued to uphold the school values throughout the exam period, with the supervisors commenting on how wonderful they have been. It has been great to see so many students arriving early to the exam centre to talk with their friends and teacher, before heading in for their final assessments. The Year 12 Graduation is on Wednesday 20th and I am sure will be a lovely end to a busy year.
A reminder that advertisements regarding the school Cleaning Contract have been advertised in recent newspapers and that applications close on Wednesday 27th November at 4pm. Please contact Simone Roy if you have any questions.
