Dear Gilgai Plains Primary School Families,
The end of the year is fast approaching, and we are preparing for our first ever school production—The Wizard of Oz! Our talented students are busy rehearsing and preparing for this magical performance, which will take place on Friday 6th December. We can't wait to showcase the hard work and creativity of our students!
As part of the production, we are asking each class to dress up in a costume representing characters from the beloved Wizard of Oz story. Below is a breakdown of each year group's costume requirements to ensure that everyone is ready for their big moment on stage!
Details: Our youngest performers will take on the roles of the adorable Munchkins. Please see the example image for inspiration.
Details: Students in these classes will be dressing as witches and wizards from the magical world of Oz. Feel free to get creative with hats, robes, and wands!
Details: These students will bring the Scarecrow to life! Consider patchwork clothes, straw accents, and a floppy hat.
Details: The Tinman’s shiny appearance is key! Please ensure that costumes are silver or metallic. A funnel-shaped hat is a great addition!
Details: Students will dress as the brave Lion from Oz. Think about fluffy manes, tails, and golden hues.
Details: These students have the freedom to choose any character from the story, whether it’s Dorothy, the Wicked Witch, Glinda the Good Witch, the Cowardly Lion, or even Toto!
Details: These students will dress in a sporty theme, combining the magic of Oz with their love of sports. Whether it’s a football player, tennis star, or Olympic champion, it’s time to get creative!
Details: These students will dress as witches or wizards from Oz. We encourage students to bring their most magical outfits, complete with hats, cloaks, and wands!
Details: The flying monkeys are a fun and iconic part of Oz! These students will dress as the mischievous monkeys with wings and fun monkey features.
Details: Like Year 3, students can choose any character from the story to bring to life on stage. Let your imagination soar!
Details: Students in these classes will be dressing to impress in their best outfits. Think formal, fancy, or show-stopping!
Details: Our Year 6 students will be showcasing their school pride by wearing their full school uniform along with their Year 6 jumpers.
Rehearsals will be taking place throughout the next few weeks, costumes do not need to be worn until the performance night. Times will be announced in the coming week.
We are so excited about this year’s production and the chance to come together as a school community to celebrate the Arts. Thank you for your support in making this production a memorable one for all of our students. We can’t wait to see you there and share the magic of The Wizard of Oz!
Warm regards,The Performing Arts Team.
