In Foundation P.E, we recently finished our work on the overarm throw and catching skills. Students practised holding the ball with one hand, stepping forward, and throwing with an overarm action. They also worked on catching by focusing on watching the ball and bringing it safely to their chest. It’s been wonderful to see their improvement in these fundamental skills and their growing confidence in catching and throwing.
We’re now moving into our next unit, focused on gameplay and skill application. This unit will give students the chance to put their throwing and catching skills into fun action games. Through these activities, they’ll learn about teamwork, following instructions, and using their skills in real game settings.
This new unit will help students develop coordination, cooperation, and a love of active play. We’re excited to see them apply what they’ve learned in new and exciting ways!
In Year 1 and 2 P.E, we’ve just wrapped up our work on the two-handed side-on strike in Teeball. Students practised holding the bat correctly, standing side-on to the tee, and swinging to hit the ball with power and control. They showed excellent improvement in their striking skills, and it was great to see their confidence grow with each practice.
We’re now beginning an exciting new unit on dodging. This skill is essential in tag games and dodgeball, as it helps students learn how to move quickly, change directions, and avoid being tagged or hit by the ball. Through fun activities and games, students will practise timing, agility, and awareness, which are all key to effective dodging.
This new unit will help build fitness, coordination, and spatial awareness. We’re looking forward to seeing how students use these skills in their games and activities!
In Year 3 and 4 P.E, students have been actively developing their soccer skills through fun, engaging gameplay! We focused on dribbling, passing, and shooting, helping students feel more confident on the field. By practising in small groups and mini-games, students learned how to move with the ball, work with teammates, and aim for the goal. Our games encourage teamwork, communication, and quick decision-making as students practised both offence and defence.
We are now beginning the basic skills of tennis. Students will learn the fundamentals, starting with the forehand strike. They’ll practise how to hold the racket, position their bodies, and swing with accuracy. Through tennis drills and activities, students will build hand-eye coordination and timing while learning this new skill.
It’s been a great term of learning and growth, and we’re excited to see their progress in both soccer and tennis!
In Year 5 and 6 PE, we recently wrapped up our SEPEP soccer unit, where students took on various team roles like captains, coaches, and referees. This unit was a fantastic way for them to build leadership skills, teamwork, and a sense of responsibility on and off the field. Students showed great progress in their dribbling, passing, and shooting skills, with many taking pride in their role as team players.
We’re now moving into a new focus: tennis, where we’ll be working on the forehand strike. This unit introduces students to tennis basics, with an emphasis on the forehand stroke. They’ll practise holding the racket correctly, positioning their bodies, and swinging with control and accuracy. Through drills and mini-games, students will enhance their hand-eye coordination and timing
The upcoming tennis unit is a great way to continue developing students' skills while introducing them to a new, exciting sport. We’re looking forward to seeing their progress!
