Dear parents and guardians,

It's so hard to believe that the Level 6s have only three weeks left in primary school. They are an outstanding cohort and it will be a bittersweet moment when they leave through the school gates on the 20th.

Scrapbooking

During week 7, classes read an inspirational mentor text called The Undefeated. This book tells the story of the Civil Rights Movement in the USA. An example of the text is:

This is for the unforgettable.

The swift and sweet ones

who hurdled history

and opened a world

of possible.

The students really loved the cadence and story of the poetry. Many students have used this as a template for their Primary Years Scrapbook. One student's beautiful writing, to reflect their Level 3 Covid year, is:

This is for the unbeatable.

The patient ones,

who continue home schooling

and come back even smarter.

This week the children have completed a piece of writing for each year of their primary school years.  Most are now working on the accompanying photos. We trust that this project will be a wonderful keepsake of their childhood.

Graduation & Graduation PowerPoint

Graduation is Wednesday 11th of December. Students will come to school at 9am for activities in the morning, then go home at 1.20pm to get changed.

Students and families are invited to come back to school at 5pm for Red Carpet photos and the ceremony will follow. On the night, a PowerPoint will play with photos of each student in Foundation and Grade 6, as they are awarded their medal. An email was sent via Compass on Wednesday 13th November with details of what is required. Please upload your photos to the Dropbox link that was shared in the email.

Maths

Our students have been diving into a range of exciting mathematical activities to consolidate everything they’ve learned throughout the year. Each day after recess, we continue with WIN (What I Need), where students focus on targeted learning to strengthen their skills. From solving real-world problems to tackling fun, hands-on challenges, it’s been wonderful to see their enthusiasm and progress.

Inquiry

The students delivered heartfelt campaigns to donate a portion of our Market Day funds to a worthy cause. We used preferential voting to elect a candidate for each class. They then presented to the cohort who voted to elect one candidate. This was such a valuable experience for everyone in terms of developing their social, emotional capability, public speaking skills, and persuasive techniques. We are very the students and excited to share more with you about the campaign that was elected, in the coming weeks.

Buddies

This week our Buddies program focused on creating some end of year decorations, ready for our Buddy party on the 16th of December.

Cheers,

Kristy, Kym, Richelle & Anthony
