Prep
What a wonderful year we’ve had in Prep! As 2024 draws to a close, we take a moment to reflect on the fantastic memories we’ve created together.
Prep is such a special time, and this year has been filled with exciting experiences that helped our students grow and have fun. From cheering each other on at Cross Country to welcoming a visit from the Kindy teachers, students reflected on how far they’ve come since starting school. We enjoyed games and activities on Under 8’s Day and celebrated 100 Days of Prep with exciting activities to celebrate all we’ve achieved. A visit from the vet taught us about caring for animals, while Book Week brought stories to life with fantastic costumes. The Athletics Carnival highlighted teamwork and cheering, R U OK Day emphasised the importance of kindness and connection, and a visit from the Queensland Ballet brought out our creative side.
These photos capture some of these special moments. We would like to thank our families for their ongoing support throughout the year. As the holidays approach, we are so proud of everything our Prep students have achieved and are excited for the adventures Year 1 will bring. Wishing you all a joyful and restful break!
Year 1
We have had an amazing and action-packed journey in Year 1! From exciting events to fun-filled learning, we have so much to celebrate.
This year, we enjoyed participating in sports events like the Junior Athletics Carnival, Cross Country, and swimming lessons. Our students gave their best efforts, cheered on their classmates, and showed wonderful team spirit. The students participated in an engaging dance workshop where they explored movement, rhythm, and creativity. Our dress-up days were a highlight, with Book Week bringing stories to life through creative costumes. And who could forget the magic of Under 8s Day, where we explored, created, and played together.
This term, our learning adventures have been just as thrilling. We explored cultural retells, sharing stories from different cultures and learning to understand and appreciate diversity. In maths, we tackled word problems, using addition and subtraction strategies to become confident problem solvers.
We are so proud of how much our Year 1 students have grown this year, both academically
and socially. Their enthusiasm, resilience, and curiosity have made this year truly special.
Year 2
Wow! Can you believe that we are nearly at the end of another school year already? And what a fantastic year we have had in Year 2!
We started the year with swimming lessons and we are finishing off the year with another set. It is great to see the improvement in all of the children and their increased confidence in the water.
Even though we are almost at the end of Term 4 we still have lots to get through before our final day. The children have been practising acting out a scene from a picture book for their Drama assessment and are in the middle of writing a narrative story in English.
In Week 10, Year 2 will be going to the cinema for their breakup party and we will have dot day. In amongst all of this, we still have time to celebrate birthdays with yummy cupcakes.
Thank you for all of your support throughout the year! We wish you and your family a very Merry Christmas and a safe and happy beginning to the New Year!
Year 3
The classes of 2/3B, 3E, and 3S have had an amazing 2024, filled with exciting and memorable events. From fun-filled excursions to the Darling Downs Zoo and Customs House to a rewarding session of cubby house building, the students have enjoyed hands-on learning and team activities. They have earnt the opportunity to enjoy class rewards and unwind with movies, popcorn, and seat swap days, making the school year extra enjoyable. Our Science experiments have featured delicious treats like chocolate and Zooper Dooper’s, this has added a sweet touch to our learning. We have had a number of students experience success with the McIntyre Young Writers initiative and this has inspired creativity and pride. It has been a year full of learning, fun, and unforgettable experiences! We have enjoyed growing and creating memories together, it has been a rewarding year for us all. We are looking forward to celebrating our achievements together with our class party on Friday the 6th of December.
Wishing everyone a safe and happy Christmas holidays!
Year 4
In Year 4 English, this term, we have been learning how to write nonsense poems. This has included reading/viewing, analysing, innovating and creating a range of different poems that are funny, silly and full of nonsense.
Through a shared writing experience, 4S created the nonsense poem below about the ocean. The 4S students were super keen to share it with the school community.
Observing the Ocean by 4S
Swimming smoothly along the reef,
Dreaming about eating a ginormous piece of beef,
Shipwrecks, shells, seaweed and fish,
Some bigger than a dish.
Came across a huge cave,
That was bigger than a wave,
Finding a stash of scrumpdiliumptious burgers,
Enough to feed a million hangry surfers.
Da-dum! Da-dum! Da-dum! Here comes the sly shark,
Ready to eat bark in the dark,
Lying in the sand,
These were the tunes we heard from a nearby band.
