Week 10 - Holiday Safety

A big thank you to everyone for your support for PBL this year.

This year, our focus on teaching and celebrating our GREAT Expectations has helped create a safe and positive environment for all students. It’s been wonderful to see our students embracing these values in their daily school life.

Thank you to our staff for their hard work and to families for reinforcing these values at home. Together, we’ve made great progress in building a positive school culture.

We’re excited for another amazing year of learning and growth in 2025.  Wishing you all a safe and happy holiday season!

 Respectful Relationships Education

This terms focus has been Building Resilience Through Positive Coping Skills

As children grow, they will face situations that make them feel worried or nervous. How they cope with these emotions is key to their well-being. Teaching them positive coping skills helps them manage challenges and build resilience for the future.

A key strategy is positive self-talk—replacing negative thoughts with supportive ones. Research shows that positive self-talk helps children persist through difficulties, while negative self-talk is linked to higher stress and anxiety. The good news is, positive self-talk can be learned and strengthened with practice.

By developing these skills, children gain the tools to face life's challenges with confidence and emotional strength.

SPORT

Hi Everyone

As the year draws to a close, I would like to thank everyone who has contributed to our school's sports program. The opportunities the students are given to represent the school, zone and region do not come without sacrifice. Travel to these events will always require a committed group of parents and teachers. For that the school community truly thanks you.

I would like to congratulate all students who have represented the school and our community this year. You have done so with great pride. I am very proud of each and every one of you. a special mention goes to Willow, William, Harrison, Annabel, James, Saxon and Audrey who were chosen in Darling Downs School Sport teams. A great achievement and one I know you have all enjoyed and will enjoy.

Take care over the holiday break. Good luck to those students who are moving on. I will miss you. I look forward to catching up with those returning in 2025 for another great year of sport at GSPS
