ADVENT

Advent begins this Sunday to mark a joyous season of preparation! The word Advent actually comes from the Latin word meaning “coming.”

During these four weeks, we prepare our hearts for the coming of Jesus, with prayer, meditation and reflection. Celebrating Advent is a meaningful way to prepare our hearts for Christmas.

Each class at Sacred Heart has an Advent Wreath.

The Advent wreath is a symbol of growth and of life. The circle of the candle reminds us that God’s love for us has no beginning and no end. The candles remind us of Jesus - the light of the world and a guide for us to follow.

On the First Sunday of Advent a purple candle is lit and is known as the Prophet's candle and symbolizes hope.

Advent God, Show us the way to be a light to all in need.

Help us to live and be God’s Dream of hope, peace, love and joy for all people.

As we wait and anticipate the birth of Jesus, come to us and fill our hearts with hope.

This we ask through Jesus Christ the light of the world.  Amen.

Have a great weekend.

Take Care,

Kate
