Dear Sacred Heart Community,
Prayer
Good Samaritan Story
As I complete my thirty eighth year in education, I never cease to be amazed at the care and compassion students can have for each other, especially when one is facing pain, suffering, sadness, loneliness, etc. It is something that we as adults can sometimes learn from (hence our regular awarding of the Good Samaritan Award at assemblies and to a graduating Year Six student "The Sister Gabriel Good Samaritan Award").
Last Tuesday our Year Five student Aleisha suffered an unfortunate accident when her finger was severally hurt when a door was closed on it. Her friend Allie brought her to first aid. As Aleisha was being treated, Allie started to experience some guilt (definitely not warranted) for what had happened and started to feel sick herself. At this stage Aleisha started comforting Allie despite her own pain. After a period of mutual comforting of each other awaiting Aleisha's parents to come and take her home, Allie just naturally went to pack Aleisha's bag to go home. Upon being presented her bag by her friend, Aleisha was overcome with gratitude and asked Allie for a hug and the two girls embraced as true selfless care givers.
Bethany
It is with mixed emotions that I let our community know, that Bethany is moving to St Paul's PS Coburg in 2025. It is a great opportunity for Bethany to continue to build upon her already extensive skills and knowledge as an educator. In her eight years at Sacred Heart commencing as a graduate in 2017, Bethany has become an educator of the highest standard. Her ability to forge rapport with students, embrace new pedagogy and show care and compassion, has seen her have a profound influence over each of the students who have had the privilege to be in her classroom. Bethany is with out doubt one of the most capable, respected and well liked teachers I have worked with. On behalf of our community, I would like to thank Bethany for her selfless diligence and passion for all facets of Sacred Heart School life these past eight years, and wish her every success and happiness as she embarks on a new exciting chapter in her professional life.
Some Of Our 2025 Foundation Students
Cettina and her helpers have been very busy and will continue to be so over the coming weeks, as our new students for 2025 are fitted out in their first school uniforms. As you can see from the photos we will continue to share, there is much excitement experienced getting your first uniform.
Lunch Orders From Parade
Please be aware that Wednesday lunch orders from the Parade Preston canteen will finish for 2024 next Wednesday. Next week no milk drinks will be available only juices. The popular lunch orders will return in 2025.
Christmas Carols
Our annual Christmas Carols will take place on Monday 16th December at 6.00pm.
Parent Helper's Morning Tea
We would like to acknowledge their efforts and say thank you to all the parents who have helped out this year for example on the School Board, Parents and Friend's initiatives, classroom helpers or on excursions. A special morning tea will be held on Monday the 16th December at 11.00am. Further details will be provided as the event gets closer.
Family Disco
For those who attended last Friday, I am sure you will agree that the Family Disco was a great coming together of our school community. A big thank you to Monica and Tendayi who did such a great job coordinating the event and the numerous parents who helped in the background leading up to the occasion. Whilst the justification for the get together is community building, it was an opportunity for our school to also raise some funds with nearly $2,000 raised between ticket sales, raffle and hamper bids. Thank you.
Sacred Heart OSHC
Details about our new provider will be published in a special bulletin early next week.
Community Choir (from former parent and great support of our school Amelia)
We have Christmas Choirs for both Children and Adults and they will all be performing at a Carols Event at Edwardes Lake on the 14th of December.
We also have performances at Federation Square.
Given all the support Sacred Heart has provided to us, there is no costs for any students from Sacred Heart to join the Christmas Choir program.
For adults, we are also running a mass community choir for the carols with rehearsals community on 6th November - all welcome to register for this event which is also free to participate.
