Mr. Barclay's Breifing!

Hello NPS Families.
Thank you again for taking the time to read this fortnight's newsletter.
NPS has been buzzing, as we often are, with many activities taking place over the past few weeks, and I am excited to share some of those highlights that showcase the talent, teamwork, and NPS community spirit throughout our great school!
On Tuesday, a group of enthusiastic students recently attended the Melbourne Writers Festival with Mr. McKinnis. I've heard it was a very inspiring day filled with storytelling, author talks, and workshops. Experiences like these remind us how powerful literature can be in sparking our students imagination and building confidence in young voices. We truly have a love of literature here at NPS, and days like this certainly encourage that!
This week, we have been visited by two of the Department of Education's Education Improvement Leaders (EILS). The DET staff support schools on the ground to improve specific areas of practice. This week, they met with every student in years 4-6, to discuss our students thinking and thoughts regarding our school, including what is that is working well, and what, from their perspective, may need improving. I am very much looking forward to receiving this report and hearing our student voice in action.
Our 'athletes' shone at the District Cross Country this week, delivering one of our strongest performances in recent years. Fourteen students progressed to the next stage - an outstanding achievement in itself. Even more impressively, two of our runners, Rose and Noe, placed first in their age groups, which is a phenomenal effort! We’re incredibly proud of every student who competed and tried their best.
Whilst on the sporting train, our involvement in this week's AFL and Soccer Lightning Premiership brought another wave of success, with several of our teams performing exceptionally well. Our soccer team, in particular, delivered a standout performance and will now progress to the next level of competition. With the amount of soccer our students play at recess and lunch, we were not surprised by this great effort!
Finally, I would like to shout out to all members of George House who attended the recent Working Bee. Your time, energy, and enthusiasm helped transform our school grounds - raking mulch, tidying garden beds, and revitalising outdoor spaces all made a huge improvement. We appreciate every pair of hands that contributed.
Thank you all once again for your ongoing support, and have a happy and safe weekend.
Our Staff - Get to know the people...
Hi, my name is Paige and I am one of the Education Support staff at NPS. I have been here for almost 4 years and have just finished my teaching studies at Deakin University.
I love spending time with my family and friends, going on walks at the beach, Pilates and going to the farmers market and footy on Saturdays. I have my fur baby named Arlo who loves lots of cuddles and walks. I also love travelling and am planning on a holiday to Europe!
I love working at NPS and building relationships with the community.
