There is so much fun being had in the playground at the moment. Walking around today at lunchtime, forts were being built with mounds of leaves, soccer games were being played, produce was being made, bought and sold at 'shops', balls were flying around the 'Ryder ball' shelter and acrobatic skills were on display on the grass. Students were definitely making the most of the autumn sunshine.

On Wednesday, students in Year 6 visited the Neighbourhood Centre, for an introductory session to the new Intergenerational Gardening program, that is being established between ourselves, Alpine Health, Alpine Shire and the Neighbourhood Centre. Earlier this week, the Alpine Shire installed two new wicking beds. These beds are now ready to plant, which will commence next week.

Individuals who would like to be part of this project are invited to register their interest by emailing healthpromotion@alpinehealth.org.au or calling 0461 583 388.
Next Thursday, banana muffins will be on sale at the school canteen for $2. These muffins will be made by students participating in Kitchen Garden lessons next week. Money raised will help buy some more resources (new gloves, buckets, storage containers) for this program.
Our school commemorated ANZAC Day last week. We were lucky enough to host Josh, Megan and Lisa from the Mount Beauty RSL Sub-branch last Thursday afternoon. They spoke with the Year 4-6 students, deepening their understanding of the ANZAC spirit and answering some thoughtful and honest questions from our students. On Saturday, many of our students and families attended and participated in ANZAC Day services. SRC students laid a beautiful wreath filled with rosemary, leucadendrons and native rosemary on behalf of us all. Thankyou Emily, for making the wreath and Queenie, Harry, Reuben, Archie, Leo and Miranda for representing us so well on the day.

On Monday, students in Years 5/6 from across the cluster, will travel to Bogong Outdoor School for a day of activities designed to develop new connections with peers though introductions and participation in group activities. The day will involve individual and whole group activities facilitated by educators from Bogong Outdoor School, and supported by classroom teachers. Students will travel by bus from Mount Beauty to Bogong. There is no cost for this event, with transport being subsidised through the Respectful Relations program. Students will need to provide their own lunch and enough snacks for the day.

On Thursday afternoon, students will be entertained by a Musica Viva performance,
On the Wireless. This performance is a collaboration with the musicians of Trio Histoire and is a unique show inspired by the golden age of radio. Aren't we lucky to have professional musicians coming to our school to perform for us!
Parents and family members are welcome to join us in the Multi-Purpose Room for this live music show. We'd love to see you there - Thursday 7th May at 2.20pm
On Friday the 15th of May, we will be hosting the Cluster Athletics carnival for students in Years 3-6. To assist in running this event, we are seeking volunteers to assist with a variety of tasks including starting, timing, measuring and cooking our BBQ. The BBQ will help raise funds for our school. If you can help out for an hour or two between 9:30am and 2pm, please let our office know as soon as possible.
There will be no Spooky Ukie lessons next week. Conrad will have a catch up lesson later this term.

You may have seen our Help Us Fundraise flyer in recent school newsletters. This term, our school council fundraising committee is planning a ‘High County Winter Experience’ themed raffle. We are hoping to offer some great prizes from local businesses that appeal to school families and friends within and beyond the local community to extend our fundraising reach. Our Term 2 fundraising efforts will go towards upgrading our fleet of student laptops.
We invite school families to get involved by contributing to our fundraising committee. Please drop past our School Office to find out more.
Alternatively, you may like to partner with a local business to offer a gift voucher in keeping with the Winter Experience theme.
Thank you to Cunningham, Taylor, Gardiner and Travers families for getting the ball rolling with donations towards some great items!
The raffle will run throughout May and be drawn at the start of June, coinciding with the opening of the ski season. Donations gratefully accepted until 30 April 2026.
