Feast Day Fun with Andrew Chinn - Friday, 15th May

This year’s Feast Day celebrations on Friday, 15th May were filled with joy, energy, music, and community spirit as our students enjoyed a wonderful day with renowned Catholic musician Andrew Chinn.

Throughout the day, Andrew worked with students across the school in engaging workshops that combined music, faith, movement, and fun. Students enthusiastically joined in singing, actions, reflection, and prayer, learning songs that celebrated God’s love and encouraged kindness, hope, and belonging within our school community.

The afternoon concert was a true highlight of the day, with students singing and dancing together with great excitement and participation. Andrew’s ability to connect with students through music created a joyful atmosphere that brought our whole school community together in celebration.

To continue the Feast Day festivities, our Year 6 leaders organised a range of fun sporting activities on the oval for students to enjoy together. The Year 6 students demonstrated wonderful leadership, encouragement, and teamwork as they guided the younger students through the games and activities. It was fantastic to see students across all year levels participating with enthusiasm, laughter, and school spirit.

A special thank you to Andrew Chinn for sharing his gifts and faith with our students, and to our dedicated Year 6 leaders for helping make the day such a memorable celebration for everyone at St Brendan’s.

St Brendan’s Parish - Feast Day Expo

On Saturday, 17th May, our St Brendan’s Parish community gathered together to celebrate our Parish Feast Day Expo with great joy, faith and community spirit.

Following Mass, parishioners gathered in the Sacred Heart Hall where our students proudly shared their gifts through singing and praise. The students performed with wonderful enthusiasm, creating a joyful atmosphere that was greatly appreciated by all in attendance.

Many parishioners commented on the students’ beautiful singing and their confident participation throughout the celebration.

The Feast Day Expo was a wonderful opportunity for our school and parish communities to come together in celebration of the Ascension of the Lord and to honour our patron saint, Saint Brendan the Navigator. It was truly a reflection of the strong faith-filled partnership shared between our parish, school and families.

Thank you to all students, staff and families who attended and supported this special celebration. Your presence and participation helped make the day such a meaningful and memorable occasion for our parish community.

Last Saturday evening, many of our students and families gathered with the parish  ommunity at St Brendan’s Church for a beautiful and spirit-filled Pentecost and Reconciliation Youth Mass.

The celebration highlighted the significance of Pentecost, the birth of the Church, and the importance of coming together during Reconciliation Week as one faith-filled community.

Over 30 of our students actively participated throughout the Mass through singing, readings, prayers of the faithful, processions and special ministry roles. Their confidence, reverence and joyful participation were a wonderful reflection of our strong parish-school partnership.

A special highlight of the evening was the meaningful recognition of Aboriginal culture and community, reminding us all of the importance of walking together in respect, unity and reconciliation. The celebration truly reflected the theme of gathering together in faith and being “ALL IN” as a Catholic community.

We sincerely thank all students, families, staff and parishioners who supported and attended this special celebration. Your presence and participation helped make the evening a memorable and faith-filled occasion for our parish and school community.

Farewell and Thank You to Sr Agnes

This week, the St Brendan’s school community gathered at our morning assembly to farewell and thank Sr Agnes for her many years of faithful service and dedication to our parish and school community.

During the assembly, Sr Agnes shared with students the important work and mission of the Sisters of Mercy, helping us to better understand the Mercy values and charism that continue to guide and inspire our school community today. Through her stories and reflections, students learnt more about the life of Catherine McAuley and how the Mercy charism calls us to live with compassion, kindness, courage, hospitality, and service to others each day.

Sr Agnes helped our students deepen their understanding of what it means to be a Mercy school, reminding us that small acts of love, care, and respect can make a big difference in the lives of others.

Students listened respectfully and participated beautifully in this special gathering as we acknowledged the lasting contribution Sr Agnes has made to the lives of many students, staff, and families over the years.

We thank Sr Agnes for the wisdom, faith, care, and gentle presence she has shared so generously with our community. We wish her every blessing and happiness in this next chapter and assure her of our prayers and gratitude.

“Mercy is the principal path pointed out by Jesus Christ to those who desire to follow Him.” Catherine McAuley
