Humanities and Social Sciences

A City Adventure for Year 10 Humanities Classes

Throughout Term 2, our Year 10 students have been studying Geography in their Humanities and Social Sciences (HASS) classes. In Week 10, all students participated in a cultural learning experience, visiting Elizabeth Quay, the Ngalang Koort Boodja Wirn Exhibit at the WA Museum Boola Bardip and Moort-ak Waadiny/Wellington Square to investigate and develop their understanding of what influences and restricts wellbeing for different groups of people. Students explored past and present policy and decisions impacting wellbeing through geographical inquiry and fieldwork skills. The weather was kind to us for the week and the students had a knowledgeable and enjoyable day out. Thank you to all the staff who attended the excursions.

Learning About Liveability

Our Year 7 HASS classes have been studying liveability as part of their Geography unit this term. For their Task 3 assessment, students had to assess the liveability of the College neighbourhood and their own suburbs. Students went on a walk around the College, exploring the different land uses of George Street, Centre Street, Treasure Road and Railway Parade. Creating a map of the area, students gathered information about the liveability of our College neighbourhood. Well done to all the students for their great effort in this task.
