Performing Arts Term 2 - Music
Every class at Mackellar PS has an hour-long Performing Arts session each week where students participate in a wide range of engaging, inclusive learning experiences combining elements of Drama and Music.
The Performing Arts enable students to develop their creative and expressive capacities, providing a safe, respectful, collaborative space that encourages individual expression and promotes student voice. Students are both artist and audience in Performing Arts sessions.
Prep Students
The Prep students in Performing Arts are learning to move with the beat and rhythm of the music. The students use beat, rhythm and tempo as we dance and move. The students use a percussion instrument to create musical rhythm.
Year One and Two Students
Year One students use body percussion to explore and create music. The students use body percussion to explore music ideas from cultural groups in the local community. The students are also learning to keep a steady beat and rhythm patterns using fruit names.
Year Three and Four Students
The Year Three and Year Four students are exploring the elements of music such as beat, rhythm, tempo by using movement and percussion instruments. The students are creating their own musical piece using percussion instruments and applying the elements of music.
Year Five and Six student
The Year Five and six students are exploring the building blocks and elements of music. The students are actively engaged and participating in activities to express and compare the elements of music.
