What's Happening In Preps
Our grade preps have been so busy being productive learners this term.
Mathematics
So far for mathematics this year, the students have been learning about manipulating numbers from 0-10. They have been practising counting collections, exploring the number sequence and ordering of numbers to 10, stating the number before and after a given number. They have been learning to identify and how to represent that number with concert materials like teddies, counters and unifix blocks. The students have been learning about length and using the vocabular of measurement by saying which object is shorter and longer. They have also introduced 2D shapes and how to describe the shapes.
English
During our English block, students are starting to write descriptive sentences about themselves and their peers. They have been explore describing perspectives to describe the person they are writing about. They have been writing position, size, texture, colour, number, shape and doing sentences. Before writing, the students have been practicing verbalising their sentences repeatedly so that they can transfer their sentences onto to paper. They have also been identifying the different describing perspectives in their reading books. The students have been looking at different rhymes and onset.
Future Focused Learning
Students have been learning about identify and understanding a range of emotions. They have been exploring different relationships that they have at school and at home. They have also been finding different ways to make new friends using their personal strengths and others.
