Principal's Report

 Dear Parents,

Who would believe we are nearly at the halfway point of the school year, and this is our last newsletter for the term?  How time flies.

Student report writing is now well and truly underway with these being available via XUNO in the last week of term. Now is a great time to check your login details for XUNO so you can access your child's report when it becomes live on the site. If you are having trouble logging in, please contact the office for assistance.

Parent-teacher interviews will be held in week two of term three thereby giving parents a chance to read the reports over the holidays prior to having a conversation with your child's teachers early in the term.  Bookings will be made available shortly, and parents will be notified via XUNO.

As you may know, we have been working with Lee Crockett developing our work on student agency and future focused learning. When we first started working with Lee back in 2021, Gemma Matias was leading this work. This week Gemma will be back at Mackellar learning all about our work with Lee since she has left and as she continues this work at her new school in Sunbury.

This year we have had lots of fellow teachers and principals visit our school to learn from us from as close by as Sunbury and Ballarat, and as far away as Tasmania. It is great to be a part of a school that does so well locally, that we are sought out from far and wide to lean from. In fact our work was recently showcased as part of the Tasmanian Principals Conference and the Victorian Principals Association (VPA) Council meeting, all of whom were suitably impressed.

Congratulations to all the students involved in the Antarctic Penguin Project art extension group and the Australian STEM - Video Game Challenge extension group who are submitting their art pieces or video game in the coming days and weeks. These are great initiatives for students displaying high abilities in these areas. Stay tuned for more opportunities for high achievers next term with the ICAS competition and Tournament of Minds.

Finally, a reminder that school finishes for the term on Friday June 28th at 2:30pm. As always, TheirCare is available from that time and over the vacation period should parents require supervision for their child/ren. School resumes on Monday July 15, however there will not be an assembly on this day.

Take care over the cold, chilly winter holidays and we look forward to seeing you all in term three.

Kind Regards,

Simon McGlade
