Anxiety Parent Workshop

On Monday, we were grateful to receive a visit from Rachel Ward (Child and Family Practitioner) from Neami National. Rachel presented a parent workshop on anxiety, discussing what is anxiety and taking questions to help guide the discussion. There will be another 2 parent sessions. The sessions will take place this coming Monday 27th May and Monday 3rd June, starting at 2pm in the STEM room. If you couldn’t attend the first session you are most welcome to attend the following sessions which will discuss strategies to implement at home and a final check-in with how the strategies worked and any further questions you would like answered. We hope that those who attended found the workshop valuable.

Bully Zero

This coming Monday 27th May, Bully Zero will be presented a workshop for students. The workshop will be presented in 2 groups, F-2 and 3-6. The workshop will provide student with evidence-based information on bullying, the different types of bullying and its impact on young people. Participants are also taught a variety of strategies to help them assess and respond to bullying situations, whilst also identifying and understanding the role of bystanders. Keep your eyes out for a dress-up day in Term 3 for National Bullying Prevention week.

Resilience Project - Gratitude

A few quick and simple ways to practise being grateful are:

  • Journaling; each night write down 3 things that went well for you that day or purchase a gratitude journal with gratitude prompts.
  • Write a gratitude letter to someone special, telling them why you are grateful they are in your life.
  • Have a family discussion on the way home from school or around the dinner table about the things that went well that day or made you smile.

You can purchase 21-day, 6-month, and family journals from The Resilience Project website if that is something you’re interested in.

To those families who did not have to book an SSG this term but have a concern regarding your child’s social emotional wellbeing or learning, please touch base with your child’s classroom teacher to arrange a time to discuss the matter.
