New Staff Join the Team
This term we have welcomed Rhys & Georgie to our Aboriginal Education Assistant team. Both Rhys and Georgie come with a range of strengths and have already proven to be a vital part of our team.
Sorry Day - Pius X
Pius X invited out Murri Yulu Gaay Dance group to their Sorry Day event. Our student performed our traditional dance for the guests at Pius X. We then stayed on for curries, damper, weaving and painting activities which our students thoroughly enjoyed. We are thankful to Pius X for the invite.
Reconciliation Week - Gwydir Daycare
For Reconciliation Week we had the pleasure of being invited to Gwydir Daycare to assist their preschool children with painting activities. We chose a selection of girls from Year 8 to attend with Rhys, Georgie & Mrs Downes.
CSNSW Aboriginal & Torres Strait Islander State Education Conference Dance Workshop
In the lead up to our Conference in October, our primary dancers travelled to Walgett with Mrs Downes and Jaimee to practice with Narrabri, Wee Waa & Walgett. Our students had a wonderful day learning new dances and catching up with their mob, just as the aides enjoyed catching up for a yarn. Since this trip we have received wonderful feedback from families, expressing how great of an experience this is for their children.
