Main focuses:

*CHILD SAFE Lanyards for classrooms are in use. These instantly identify what class a student is from but also that they have permission to be out of the classroom.

*REAL SCHOOLS-As part of our engagement with REAL SCHOOLS teachers have begun using ‘primer circles’ to explicitly discuss expectations. For example, last week prior to assembly we let students know that we expected them to quietly walk in and sit down, sing the national anthem and school song not only with pride but respectfully and to listen respectfully to those on the stage. If you have been attending assembly you may have noticed that we have been using a rating scale to help settle students with the aim to get to 10/10.

*BREAKFAST CLUB - pop by for some toast, fruit and milk on Monday’s, Wednesday’s and Friday’s. Remember to thank our lovely volunteers!

*Just a friendly reminder that students are required to wear the Langwarrin Park uniform. Our uniform policy can be found on the school website.

*YEAR 6 CAMP- Last week our Year 6 students and teachers attended The Summit camp. The theme was ‘step outside your comfort zone’. It was fantastic to hear of how engaged our students were and how willing they were to push themselves and be brave. It looks like our staff did this also!

*Play leaders and the ‘Helping Club’ do a fantastic job providing

structured games/activities for our junior students. It is wonderful to

see they are always busy and the respect shown to our leaders by

the Foundation and Year 1 students is pleasing.

*Bella in an integral member of the wellbeing team. We regularly review with students the expectations around engaging with Bella. It is particularly important students remember to be quiet when near her and pat her on the approved zones – chest, back or tummy.

Breakfast Club

Breakfast Club runs for 3 mornings a week over near the gym area. It is staffed by some of our Education Support staff. We firmly believe that students need to have a good breakfast to be regulated and focussed int e classroom. We are always looking for more volunteers so if you think you could help from 8.25am please just contact Naomi Mc Master at school. We offer fruit , milk and toast. We are aware of allergies alerted on student files. It is a ‘grab and go’ set up so we can cater for lots of students to have a healthy snack before class.

Fruit bowls are a huge success in the classroom. We have more than tripled our weekly fruit order this term. It’s great to see so many students enjoying the fruit.

Speech Therapist and Psychologist

We have 2 private practitioners who work out of our school one day a week- a speech therapist (Katie Watkins) and a psychologist (Meaghan Morley). We understand how difficult it is to get students to appointments out of school hours, and the long waiting lists people face. Thus, we feel very fortunate that we are able to offer you these services. There are further details in the newsletter. If you would like more information, please speak with Luana Lane in the Student Support Office.
