Level 4

Level  4

The past few weeks have seen level four students resettling back into the modern day classroom. Camp reflections are still popular and stronger connections between our level 4 cohort and teachers are evident. The talent show originally scheduled for camp came to fruition last Friday. Students shared their many talents in the gym, and it was lovely to see the students supporting each other. We enjoyed instrumental performances, magic tricks, a mime in action, joke sharing and many more performances. Congratulations to all who chose to participate.

Writing

Students have been working on information texts and learning how to best organise their writing. They are working on more than one way to make their introductions engaging. They enjoyed using factual, descriptive language while writing paragraphs in the present tense. This week students will plan and write an information report of their choice. Stay tuned!

Math

In Maths students have been working on number patterns. They started with repeated addition as multiplication and explored various strategies, moving onto making connections between 2’s, 4’s and 8 times tables. This week students will continue working on number patterns with various multiplication facts.

Reading

Starting this week, students are learning about the reading strategy synthesising. It involves using prior knowledge, newly learned ideas, connections and inferences to develop a new understanding of a text. Students focus on how their thinking changes and evolves as they read a variety of books. They will work together to show how their thinking shifts and grows.
