Level 3

Level  3

It’s been another busy week in Level 3, with lots of learning and exciting whole school events!

Reading

In reading, students have been given many opportunities to practise the important skill of inferring. They have done this with a variety of fiction mentor texts and inferring character traits, feelings, and motivations with a focus on finding evidence.

Writing

We finished off our information report writing last week by writing about our wonderful mums. It was so lovely to have some mums come in and join us for the morning to take part in interviews with their children. We loved learning about their interests, hobbies and lives before children as well as what makes motherhood so special to them. Next, we will be diving back into persuasive texts to consolidate and build on our learning from Term 1.

Maths

In maths we have been investigating graphs and data. Students enjoyed finding out about different kinds of graphs and what they look like. We incorporated movement into our lesson with students moving around the room to analyse graphs and tables and interpret the data with questions. Some students explored their interests by looking at soccer statistics, making graphs out of unifix cubes and calculating the average.

Inquiry

Students worked collaboratively in groups and pairs this week to use digital technology (laptops and our new iPads!) to research the services and responsibilities of the Maroondah City Council.

Connection

This was a wonderful week of community connections. We loved welcoming our mums in for open morning and families on open night to share our space and learning. We had lots of fun with Spheros, maths games and card building challenges.
