Snapshots from Springvale Campus

It has been another busy and productive fortnight on Springvale Campus.

Earlier this week our FLC students were able to bring their favourite teddy bear to school when the Monash Teddy Bear Hospital visited. The purpose of this program, which is run by medical students, is to alleviate the fear of going to the doctor or hospital that many young children may have. Our students engaged in different activities that simulated real-life hospital or doctor experiences that the young children may encounter. They learned about asthma, X-rays, allergies and healthy eating.

The students in years four, five and six have started completing the Student Opinion Survey this week. This is a Department of Education survey that provides them with the opportunity to tell us how they feel about their school and their learning. The data that we get is invaluable in understanding the student perception of our school and will be used to look into ways we can improve their schooling experience in the future.

The school has been a little bit quieter than usual this week with our SLC students away on camp. Keep an eye out for more details about this exciting adventure, including the photos, in the next newsletter!

We would like to extend a big, warm, Springvale Rise welcome to Keshia who will be running the Their Care out of school hours program on Springvale Campus. She is an experienced educator who is very enthusiastic about joining our school community. The students love her already!

We hope all mums, grandmas, aunties and all other ‘mother figures’ had a great Mother’s Day on Sunday. Our Foundation students had a fabulous time celebrating with their mums who joined them in the classroom last Thursday for special activities and a morning tea. Here is what some of them said about why their mum is special…

Springvale Campus has been practising Collaboration and Respect by getting involved in regular yard clean ups. Towards the end of each lunch time, we all work together to pick up anything that may have accidentally ended up on the ground. This is how we show respect for the environment and take pride in our school. Our yard has never looked better!  Keep up the great work everyone and let’s keep our school looking spick-and-span!
